The Staff of KAZU
Douglas McKnight
General Manager
Doug spent more than 35 years in television news before discovering radio is the future. During his career Doug served as General Manager and News Director at KION TV in Monterey, Producer of Silicon Valley Business at KICU/KTVU, News Director at KICU TV, Executive News Producer at KGO TV in San Francisco, and Assistant News Director at WXYZ TV in Detroit. Doug was recently honored by the National Television Academy for more than 25 years of "significant service to San Francisco Bay Area television." Doug's principal job these days is to raise the money that pays for 90.3 KAZU's public service programming. You can e-mail Doug at dmcknight[insert 'at' symbol]kazu dot org

David Wittrock
Morning Edition host-producer / Operations Manager
David is a long-term resident of the Central  Coast. His time started in 1960 as a student of Bulgarian at the Army Language  School, later the Defense Language Institute. After a tour in Ankara, Turkey, and a hitch-hiking tour of the Middle East, he returned to San Jose State to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Over the years, he taught English at Robert Louis  Stevenson School, worked as a Realtor, Title Insurance Company Office Manager, morning host and Program Director for a local classical-format radio station, blacksmith demonstrator, and tour guide for California Department of Parks. His rich background and myriad interests fit well with the range of subject matters discussed at NPR. E-mail David at dwittrock[insert 'at' symbol]kazu dot org

Krista Almanzan
All Things Considered host - producer / News Director
Krista started her journalism career in Iowa where she reported for television stations in Ottumwa and Cedar Rapids. She covered the 2000 and 2004 Presidential races and Iowa Caucuses.  In 2005 she won the Stanley Foundation Award for Outstanding Broadcast Coverage of Iowa's Global Connections. Later that year, she returned to her home state of California where she continued to work in television and simultaneously got her start in public radio as a freelance reporter with Capital Public Radio in Sacramento. Like KAZU listeners, Krista appreciates the in-depth, long form stories that are unique to public radio. She's pleased to continue that tradition in the Monterey Bay Area. You can reach Krista with comments and story ideas at kalmanzan[insert 'at' symbol]kazu dot org.

Warda Alhadi
Business Manager
Warda joined KAZU in 2002. You won't hear Warda on the air, but she is "in her studio" making sure that expenses don't get ahead of revenues. She also helps members with inquiries about the status of their memberships.  You can contact Warda at walhadi[insert 'at' symbol]kazu dot org.

Miklos Benedek

Director of Underwriting
Mik, a veteran Monterey Bay Area Broadcaster, joined 90.3 KAZU in March of 2005. Mik believes KAZU's public service programming makes it "one of the most important radio stations in the Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz radio market." He says that Underwriting announcements on 90.3 KAZU are an untapped resource for marketers in the Monterey Bay Area's business and nonprofit communities. Mik is glad to talk with you about whether Underwriting might be a good fit for your business or organization. You can contact Mik at mbenedek[insert 'at' symbol]kazu dot org. Away from work Mik gets his Zen fencing and surfing.
