The CSU Monterey Bay President’s Speaker Series presents Belva Davis, journalist, author and host of public television’s This Week in Northern California. Belva Davis’s memoir Never In My Wildest Dreams: A Black Woman’s Life in Journalismtells the story of how she persevered against racism to become the first black female television journalist in the west. Over the last half century Davis has covered everything from the Berkeley student protests to the onset of the AIDS epidemic, and encountered the likes of Malcolm X and Fidel Castro along the way. Davis spoke in CSUMB’s World Theater in September 2011.
