Monterey, CA – "Ah! Well a-day! What evil looks / Had I from old and young! / Instead of the cross, the Albatross / about my neck was hung."

To the ancient mariner in Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic poem the albatross he kills becomes a curse to his ship. But traditionally it's a symbol of good luck. And now, the Monterey Bay Aquarium officials, it's an ambassador to help educate visitors about the dangers of plastic waste in the ocean. For the first time, the aquarium is home to one of these giant ocean birds.
