The pull of gang life is strong for some young Central American immigrants new to the U.S. Gangs can offer a much-desired sense of security and family. But leaving a gang is often difficult and dangerous.

Armando Trull (@trulldc) from Here & Now contributor WAMU reports on a program that’s helping former gang members start anew, in part by erasing the tattoos that kept them bonded to their past.
