Event Description

New Felton Branch Library

With construction now complete, San Lorenzo Valley Residents of all ages as well as the entire Community of Santa Cruz can now enjoy a Environmental-Education oriented County Park alongside of a new State-of-The-Art Library Facility bridging Indoor and Outdoor Education.

To celebrate the long journey that has transpired from the onset of the inception, planning & construction of this vital part of the Felton Community and the entire Santa Cruz County & San Lorenzo Valley dating back to 2005, the Santa Cruz Public Libraries invites you to celebrate the Grand Opening of the NEW Felton Branch Library on Saturday, February 22nd. The event’s festivities will include a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony with local Dignitaries from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.. Afterwards attendees can enjoy a day of crafts, non-alcoholic refreshments and music.

You can also drop in whenever you can to see the beauty of this new building, to include the breathtaking Nature Discovery Park at 6121 Gushee Street in Felton.

“It was so worth it in retrospect, because we’re going to have a place that’s more than just an indoor learning experience,” said Nancy Gerdt, Chairwoman of Felton Library Funds, who has advocated for a new Felton Branch since 2005.

The 2-acre Felton Library Nature Discovery Park extends from the doors of the new library back to include a stream and riparian corridor & features a learning space, interactive nature discovery zones and an interpretative loop trail.

Please note as a courtesy to all attendees that there will not be a cocktail hour between 4:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. and no alcoholic beverages will be served at this event.
