As of June 29th The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History has reopened!
After being closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Pacific Grove Natural History Museum has reopened. This Reopening includes its outstanding Summer Camp Program.
Visitors can once again enjoy the birds and wildlife, plants, geology, and cultural richness that make the California Central Coast unique in the world. This exceptional organization and facility remains one the greatest places to enjoy the outside while inside.
“We are so pleased and proud that the museum was able to inspire and engage with the community during such a profoundly difficult time,” said Jeanette Kihs, the museum’s Executive Director. “Now, as we move together into a ‘new normal,’ we look forward to welcoming visitors into more direct engagement -- keeping health and safety in mind at all times.”
The museum’s exceptional exhibits and exhibitions include the following:
→ The Amazing Adaptations of Birds
→ Monarch Gallery
→ Native Plant Garden
→ Pacific Grove’s Chinese Fishing Village
→ Native Central Coast Baskets
→ Collectors: Teaching throughout Time
→ The Wildflower Show
→ Illustrating Nature
→ Blue Seas & Green Seas: Cool Critters of The California Current
→ 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Sunday
→ 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Mondays during the Summertime Pacific Grove Farmer’s Market
→ Closed on Saturday, July 4th in observance of The July 4th Independence Day
As part of the reopening Visitors will be directed along a one-way course and the museum will have limits on the number of Attendees allowed in one room at any given time. The Proper minimum six-foot Social Distancing and Mask-wearing Requirements will remain part of the museum’s protocols and a number of hand-sanitizer dispensers will also be available.
In addition, the museum’s eight Summer Camp Programs are underway. These programs are divided into the Pre-K to Second Grade and Third to Fifth Grade Categories.
A typical day includes exploration of the Museum, inside and outside activities and nature walks. These camps provide unique hands- on activities while encouraging children to explore their curiosities and guide them in discovery and wonderment of the natural world.
All camps are held at the museum. For more information of this exciting program including a link for registration, please visit: www.pgmuseum.org/summer-camp.
