CSUMB’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center’s 7th Annual and “First-Ever Virtual” Summer Research Symposium takes place On-Line this Friday, August 7th!
The 7th Annual Summer Research Symposium celebrates the research and creative activities of the undergraduate students in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC), Monterey Regional Ocean Sciences Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program, and the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Internship Program.
In addition to a summer of research, many undergraduate participants enrolled in this program also attend over twenty hours of professional development workshops spanning topics such as research communication, graduate school preparation, and the value of peer mentoring.
To date, this symposium is the largest summer research program in the region.
This year, the event will be hosted on-line and takes place on Friday, August 7th and will bring together a group of over fifty CSUMB students representing ten different academic disciplines.
In addition to being a great event for students to present their transformative research experiences to a larger audience, the symposium is also a forum for students, faculty, community partners and invited guests to engage in lively discussions focusing on cutting edge research, innovation and education happening within our community.
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC) at California State University, Monterey Bay engages students of all majors in undergraduate research to build students’ educational ownership, intellectual vibrancy, and scholarly identity. We achieve this through mentored undergraduate research; rigorous, authentic, and calibrated scholarly activities; and the development of social capital.
