The Panetta Institute held the final lecture in the 2019 Leon Panetta Lecture Series season on Monday, May 27, 2019.

This year’s series focused on the theme Checks and Balances – Will Our Democracy Survive?  This Memorial Day, the program concluded with a look toward our republic’s history and in-depth discussion with two of the nation’s most celebrated presidential scholars.

Secretary Panetta spoke with Douglas Brinkley, Professor of History at Rice University and CNN Commentator; and Annette Gordon-Reed, American Historian and Law Professor of American Legal History at Harvard University. Gordon-Reed was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for history in 2009.

The event aired live on 90.3 KAZU.
