CALIFORNIA

California is reporting, as of June 25, 200,461 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 5,812 people have died from the coronavirus. That marks an increase of 79 deaths and 4,890 cases from the day before. Local health departments have reported 14,218 confirmed positive cases in health care workers and 86 deaths statewide. There have been 3,771,314 tests conducted in California.
MONTEREY COUNTY
2:40 p.m.
With the 4th of July coming up, Monterey County health officials provided more information about Social Circles. They are a way of bringing people together in small groups. Health officials say people should only participate in one social circle for a four-week period and that gatherings should be outside to reduce the risk of COVID-19. Those in social circles are encouraged to maintain six feet of distance, wear face coverings, and wash hands frequently.
Social Circles are small, stable groups of 12 or fewer people that are part of -
- Household and Friends Support Unit, or
- Children's Extracurricular Activity Unit

The Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau has created a “Travel Responsibly” campaign. The campaign focuses on safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic and what tourists can expect when they visit the area. The Bureau worked with local cities to create signage, including a downloadable flyer for businesses.
The Bureau has also created a taskforce that focuses on holding local events safely. The taskforce is working to establish protocols for everything from races to weddings.

The Monterey Sports Center is expanding their hours. Beginning Monday, June 29, the center will open earlier. Reservations are required in advance.
- Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. & 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In addition to the increased hours, the Monterey Sports Center will begin group exercise classeson Monday, June 29. The sessions, which require registration 24 hours before the class, will be held on the outside patio.
11:15 a.m.
Monterey County is reporting, as of June 26, 1,429 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The county says that’s an increase of 13 cases over a 24 hour period. Fatalities remain at 12. 120 people have required hospitalization for the coronavirus. 906 have recovered. 22,909 tests have been conducted in Monterey County.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY
10:45 a.m.
Santa Cruz County is reporting, as of June 26, 344 total known cases of COVID-19 with 106 active known cases. That marks an increase of 7 new cases since the report on June 25. Three residents have died from the virus. 44 people have required hospitalization and 235 people have recovered. 15,431 negative test results have been recorded.
