SANTA CLARA COUNTY

Santa Clara County has expanded their COVID-19 testing sites. The county launched or expanded six drive-through and pop-up test locations on Monday. The locations were chosen based on where increased cases are occurring. The county recommends that essential workers get tested now and once every month, even if they don't have symptoms.
Temporary Testing Sites: Testing will be available in outdoor “pop-up” sites, including one in San Jose on Friday, May 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY
3:20 p.m.
As of Monday morning, there are 200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Santa Cruz County residents. That marks an increase of 8 cases since the county’s report on Sunday. Fatalities remain at two people, 29 have required hospitalization and 132 have recovered from the virus. 7,366 negative tests have been recorded in the county.
MONTEREY COUNTY
3:15 p.m.
Monterey County supervisors will meet on Tuesday, May 26, to discuss requesting a variance from the state. This would allow the county to move through Stage 2 of California's roadmap to reopening faster. Expanded Stage 2 allows shopping and in-person dining with masks and social distancing. Monterey County officials say they’ve met the requirements to move forward under the state’s new criteria, which was announced earlier this week. Click here for the supervisors’ meeting agenda.

United Farm Workers and World Central Kitchen is hosting their second meal drive for farmworkers Tuesday evening. About 3,000 meals will be distributed at Patriot’s Park in Greenfield beginning at 5 p.m. The meals are prepared by local restaurants.

As of Monday afternoon, there are 413 confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Monterey County residents.That marks an increase of 40 cases since Friday. Fatalities remain at 8 people, 53 have required hospitalization and 278 have recovered from the virus. Local labs have conducted 8,069 tests.
CALIFORNIA
2:55 p.m.
The California Department of Public Health announced Monday that places of worship and retail stores can reopen statewide upon approval by county public health departments. Modifications are required to protect Californians. For example, places of worship can hold services and funerals, but should limit attendance to 25% of a building's capacity, or up to 100 attendees.

The California Department of Public Health says as of May 24, there are 94,558 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state. 3,795 people have died. That’s an increase of 21 deaths since May 23. Local health departments have reported 9,328 confirmed positive cases in healthcare workers, with 50 deaths statewide. 1,644,102 tests have been conducted in California.
