SANTA CRUZ COUNTY

11:50 a.m.

Santa Cruz County is reporting, as of June 13, 255 confirmed cases of COVID-19. This is an increase of 1 case since June 11. A total of 34 people have required hospitalization and 201 people have recovered from the coronavirus. 11,001 negative lab tests have been recorded.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY

11:45 a.m.

Santa Clara County is reporting, as of June 13, 3,157 confirmed cases of COVID-19. A total of 150 people have died from the coronavirus. This represents an increase of 43 cases and no new deaths from their last report. 57 people are currently hospitalized. The county has done 100,446 tests. 

11:35 a.m.

Health officials say multiple cases of COVID-19 identified this week among construction workers, including at four construction sites in Santa Clara County, underscore the need for the construction industry to adhere to social distancing and safety protocols. Officials say the largest outbreak occurred at a construction site in Mountain View, where there have been 10 confirmed cases and more than 30 potential exposures. Under the current health officer order, construction activities are allowed to operate but must strictly comply with safety and social distancing protocols specific to the construction industry.

CALIFORNIA

11:15 a.m.

California has, as of June 12, 145,643 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 4,989 people have died from the coronavirus. That is an increase of 46 deaths and 3,660 cases from the day before. The number of COVID-19 diagnostic test results in California reached a total of 2,724,393, an increase of 62,135 tests since Thursday.

MONTEREY COUNTY

11:30 a.m.

The Monterey County and Salinas Animal Services operations are consolidating their services during the coronavirus pandemic. Services such as animal control and pet licensing within the jurisdictions remain separate. However, operations within the shelter are beginning to integrate as Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Services are by appointment only at this time.  Animal viewing is available online and updated hourly. At this time, adoption is on hold pending changes to social distancing.

11:10 a.m.

Monterey County has released the results of their COVID-19 Business Economic Impact Survey. The survey asks county businesses how the pandemic has affected their employees, financial situation and more. Some key takeaways include that 84 percent of businesses noted changes in gross revenue; 51 percent had to lay off employees; and 78 percent applied for financial assistance (42 percent received it). The county is encouraging business to continue to take part in the survey so they can monitor how businesses are coping during the pandemic. They also have asurvey for non-profits.
