Jimmy Smith was also known as The Incredible Jimmy Smith was a Jazz musician who became popular by playing the Hammond B-3 electric organ. He recorded around 40 albums for Blue Note Records in just eight years beginning in 1956.
He switched to Verve Records in 1962 and was accompanied by a big band on many of the sessions. He also recorded with other artists like Michael Jackson on his successful album “Bad”.
This program is an introduction to the great Jimmy Smith and gives examples of how his style incorporates the Blues and Soul.
