High Country Celtic Radio 149 - St. Bridgid's Day

Broadcast: March 17, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

This week, Katie Marie and Joe Bly (hosts of High Country Celtic Radio) celebrate St. Bridgid's Day, or Imbolc, which is the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

St. Bridgid is the Christian assimilation of the Celtic goddess, Brid, and is one of the patron saints of Ireland, along with Patrick and Columba. Although the ancient Celts celebrated Imbolc as the first day of Spring, here in the high desert, it's definitely still winter.

In the episode, you'll hear tracks from: Páraic Mac Donnchadha, Celtic Fiddle Festival, Emer Mayock, Liz Carroll & Mick Moloney, The Ivy Leaf, Martin Quinn & Angelina Carberry, La Lugh, Kathleen Conneely, Verena Commins & Julie Langan, Karen Matheson, Ship in the Clouds, Alan Kelly Gang, Goitse, Barrule, and Caroline Keane & Tom Delany.
