AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is in full swing. The charity tournament sponsored by AT&T has been going on since the 1930s.  There’s always a few key elements: great golf, celebrities, unpredictable weather, and an iconic poster.

Some ocean pollution, like plastic bags, can float on top of the water. Others, like golf balls, sink. So to raise awareness about this problem, a Santa Cruz artist is turning golf balls from the ocean’s floor into a sculpture. They were collected in the waters off Pebble Beach by a teen diver.

The Venue

Nestled between the music scenes of Santa Cruz and Monterey, Seaside can be overlooked as a place to go for dinner and a concert. But one Seaside native has been working to change that through word-of-mouth.

Singer-Song writer John Lennon died more than 30 years ago, but both his songs and his art live on. And like Lennon once did, his art is doing tours on the road. The traveling exhibit opens Friday in Carmel.

The exhibit features nearly 100 limited edition lithographs, serigraphs and copper etchings of Lennon’s pen and ink artwork, and hand written song lyrics. Rudy Siegel of Legacy Fine Art & Productions says most were printed after Lennon’s death in 1980 and some have been colorized by Yoko Ono.
