Meet The  Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, or AWE –  Downtown Santa Cruz business owners and managers. Inspired by author, Grace Bonney and her book, “Good Company,  The Community Issue” – AWE Santa Cruz is dedicated to effecting positive change downtown and throughout the community.   Meet members of  AWE Santa Cruz at their kick off party and mixer -  Wednesday July 25th at Assembly Restaurant – and take part in their Passport Challenge with opportunities to win prizes from some of Santa Cruz’s local women-owned restauranteurs, retailers, breweries and organizations.  Pick up a passport at Bookshop Santa Cruz or any participating AWE member for rules.  More information at

Grand Opening, July 14th 1-4 pm

KAZU is proud to help support the Grand Opening of Storr's new winery facility at their estate vineyard, in the Pleasant Valley district of Corralitos. The celebration invites local farms & chefs and pairs their artistic efforts with Storr's wines. Dine while learning from talented chefs and winemakers, and stroll the new picnic grounds overlooking their organically-farmed Pinot Noir Vineyard.  Local innovators in agriculture, art and food will speak in the new barrel cellar.  Proceeds benefit the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust.  Tickets at

A Pulitzer prize-winner, Jennifer Egan’s most recent novel, “Manhattan Beach,” is an ambitious and plot-driven work of historical fiction. Ebb & Flow, A two day, family friendly festival created to celebrate and deepen the community’s connections to the San Lorenzo River. Led by Arts Council Santa Cruz County, the festival will feature a First Friday celebration on the Soquel Avenue Bridge, a Saturday March for the River and Festival at the Tannery Arts Center.  Highlights will include a vertical dance performance by Bandaloop at the Tannery, and the unveiling of a new, interactive art piece by Aron Altmark and Rachel Stoll.

The 2018 Steinbeck Festival will take place May 6th through 8th, and will celebrate "The Women Of Steinbeck's World" -- women he created, those he knew, and those who influenced mid-century American culture. The Santa Cruz Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly festival celebrating invention and creating. Exploring new forms and new technologies across the spectrum of science, engineering, art and performance – This year’s event will feature interactive experiences with rockets, robots and electric cars. The 12th annual “Summit for the Planet Earth Day Celebration and Eco-Carnival” at Mount Madonna School is a family-friendly event featuring kids’ solar car races, carnival games, face painting, pony rides, live wildlife, tasty foods, live music, a learning expo and trash fashion show. The three-hour event begins at 11:00am Saturday morning. A walk-a-thon among the redwoods will take place earlier in the day.
