The Panetta Institute will hold the final lecture in the 2019 Leon Panetta Lecture Series season on Monday, May 27, 2019.

The third event of the 2019 Leon Panetta Lecture Series focused on the Role of Nationalism, Globalism and Patriotism.  

The second event of the 2019 Leon Panetta Lecture Series focused on the Role of the Press and the Congress.

The first event of the 2019 Leon Panetta Lecture Series focused on the Mueller Investigation, the Law and the Presidency.  

The 2019 Leon Panetta Lecture Series will tackle the topic: Checks and Balances - Will Our Democracy Survive? Some of the speakers joining former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta include John Kelly, Chris Christie and James Clapper.

This third forum of the 2018 Leon Panetta Lecture Series focused on The American Presidency and the American Dream – The Role of Leadership.

Global Crisis and the American Dream – America First or America as a World Leader? with Michael McFaul, United States Ambassador to the Russian Federation (2012-2014); Michèle Flournoy, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (2009-2012); and George Will, political columnist, television commentator and author.  Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta moderated. 

The 2018 Leon Panetta Lecture Series asks, Is the American Dream Alive and Well?  

The Economy and the American Dream – Impact of Debt, Growth, Immigration and Tax Cuts with Kelly Ayotte, United States Senator, New Hampshire (2011-2017); and Chris Dodd, United States Senator, Connecticut (1981-2011).  Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta moderated.

The 2018 Leon Panetta Lecture Series will tackle the topic: Is the American Dream Alive and Well?   The line-up includes the four following forums with former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta moderating.

All will take place at the Monterey Conference Center and broadcast live on 90.3 KAZU.

The 2017 Leon Panetta Lecture Series focuses on the Trump Presidency and the Future of America. The first event of the series addresses the Affordable Care Act: Repeal, Replace or Gridlock?

This fall President Barack Obama honored Luis Valdez with the National Medal of Arts.  The playwright is a the founder of El Teatro Campesino in San Juan Bautista.  He was also a founding professor at CSUMB.  CSUMB President Eduardo Ochoa welcomed Valdez back on campus for an event on November 22nd at the World Theater.

The third forum of the Leon Panetta Lecture Series focuses on Gridlock, Partisanship and Executive Action.

The second forum in the 2016 Leon Panetta Lecture series takes place Monday, April 18th and airs live on 90.3 KAZU.   The theme for this year's series is "An America in Renaissance or Decline".  Tuesday's topic is "Jobs, Debt and Taxes".

The CSU Monterey Bay President's Speaker Series provides a forum for thoughtful and provocative discussions that can impact thought and action on issues important to our community and our nation.

 The first forum of the 2016 Leon Panetta Lecture Series focuses on the topic, "War, Terrorism and Other Global Threats". 

Secretary Leon Panetta moderates this discussion with guests Mike Rogers, former United States representative (R-MI) and chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; Wendy Sherman, former Department of State under secretary for political affairs and lead negotiator of the Iran nuclear agreement; and General Ray Odierno, former United States Army chief of staff and commander of United States forces in Iraq.

In 2014 and 2015, KAZU reporter Rowan Moore Gerety along with KAZU's Krista Almanzan recorded around the clock moments of life in the Monterey Bay Area. The end result is the Monterey Bay Chronicles, an audio portrait of 24 hours in the Monterey Bay Area.
