Commentator Andrea Bernstein [BERN-stine] notes that one of the ways the just-concluded GOP convention differed from its 1992 predecessor was its position on homosexuality. In 1992, she says, one speaker after another took pot-shots at gays and lesbians; this time around, the GOP's stand on gays in the military, same-sex marriage and other issues were kept in the platform and off the stage.
