Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties – Two contentious races for Board of Supervisors seats ended up with clear victors Tuesday night. In Monterey County, 2nd district incumbent Lou Calcagno handily defeated Jyl Lutes by about 12 percentage points for the seat that represents North County and the northern part of Salinas. And in Santa Cruz County, the 3rd-district race that was expected to be tight between Bookshop Santa Cruz owner Neal Coonerty and Christopher Krohn, an internship coordinator at UCSC turned into a cakewalk from Coonerty, who finished with about 58 percent of the vote - enough to avoid a runoff. KAZU's Ben Adler speaks with Calcagno and Coonerty.
