Salinas, CA – California officials started auditing companies that package and ship leafy greens this week - almost a year after a major E. coli outbreak in spinach sickened 200 people and killed three. It's all part of a voluntary food safety program the industry hopes will reduce the chance of a future outbreak. KAZU's Rachael McDonald speaks with KAZU's Ben Adler.

Want to see if a specific lettuce or spinach processor or shipper has signed the agreement? Here's the list, on the California Leafy Green Handler Marketing Board's website. Remember that a company's name is not the same as a brand name.
