A Taste of Brittany Evening Event

A Taste of Brittany Evening Event

Crepes of Brittany is holding “A Taste of Brittany” event on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 6 pm – 7 pm at their restaurant located at 211 Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey.

Owners Daniel Peron and Thierry Crocquet will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating history of crepe-making, along with insights into the rich culinary and cultural traditions of Brittany, France. The presentation will include a live crepe-making demonstration, followed by a complimentary tasting of several of their signature crepes for attendees. The session will conclude with an interactive question-and-answer segment. Space is limited so RSVPS are appreciated by emailing crepesofbrittany@gmail.com.

Crepes originated in the Brittany region of France as early as the 13th century and have since become one of the country’s most beloved culinary traditions, from simple street fare to celebrated cuisine. Deeply rooted in Breton culture, crepe-making blends history, technique, and tradition—offering a delicious window into France’s coastal heritage. The restaurant recently launched the Crepes of Brittany Seniors Program to honor local residents age 55 and over. Seniors who show a current Monterey County ID will receive a 15% discount on Wednesdays and Thursdays as a thank-you to the community that has supported the restaurant over the years.

In addition, to honor our military, those with a military ID will receive 15% off daily.

In addition, Crepes of Brittany has also introduced a new Crepes of Brittany VIP Card Program. Patrons who pick up a VIP card while dining at the restaurant can earn a free sweet crêpe of any flavor on the menu after five prior crêpe purchases. Together, these initiatives reflect Crepes of Brittany’s ongoing commitment to community, quality, and celebrating the French culinary traditions that have made the restaurant a Monterey favorite for 16 years.

Thierry Crocquet, co-owner, comments, “Serving our loyal customers at Crepes of Brittany is at the heart of everything we do—their continued trust and support inspire us to deliver our very best every single day. Launching our new VIP card and providing a meaningful discount to our community seniors is also very important to us as we continue to give back to those who support us most.”

“Our loyal customers are the foundation of our success, and we are deeply committed to honoring the trust they place in us every day. Introducing our new VIP card and extending a special discount to seniors in our community are meaningful ways we can show appreciation and continue giving back to the people who have supported Crepes of Brittany throughout the years,” said Daniel Peron, co-owner.

About Crepes of Brittany

Owned by Daniel Peron and Thierry Crocquet, both natives of Northern France - Brittany and Normandy respectively , Crepes of Brittany, inspired by the authentic regional flavors of Brittany and Normandy, was founded on a shared commitment to authenticity, craftsmanship, and hospitality. Thierry and Daniel first met in 2008 at Daniel’s former restaurant, Taste of Brittany, in Stockton, California, and they reconnected two years later. United by their culinary philosophy and heritage, they selected Monterey as the home for an authentic French creperie.

The original Crepes of Brittany opened in 2010 on Old Fisherman’s Wharf, beginning in a small corner of a coffee shop with just a handful of tables. Despite its modest size, the location allowed the owners to establish the high standards of food quality and customer service that would define the restaurant. Traditional techniques and carefully sourced ingredients helped deliver a truly regional French experience rarely found in the area.

Six years later, following steady growth and strong community support, Crepes of Brittany moved into its current stand-alone location (45 seats inside; 40 seats al fresco) near Old Fisherman’s Wharf and the Portola Hotel & Spa. The restaurant features many eye-catching decorative items including posters, a fish net, porcelain plates, painted trays and four large crepe griddles.

A Cultural Roots Story

Brittany—Bretagne in French and Breizh in the Breton language—is located in northwestern France, bordered by Normandy to the northeast and extending westward into the Atlantic Ocean. It has a lot of similarity to the Central Coast of the Monterey Peninsula. The region’s maritime landscapes, traditions, and distinctive cuisine strongly influence the flavors and philosophy behind Crepes of Brittany. The capital of Brittany is Rennes, and its culinary legacy remains central to the restaurant’s identity.
