Carmel Foundation Wednesday Program: Protect Yourself – Senior Fraud Awareness Presentation
Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated—but knowing the warning signs can help protect you and those you care about. The Carmel Foundation invites the community to a free Senior Fraud Awareness Presentation on Wednesday, September 16, at 2:30 p.m. in Diment Hall. The program is free and open to the public, with refreshments served.
Richie M. Sayavong, Outreach Analyst with the California Department of Insurance (CDI), will discuss common scams targeting older adults, including fake insurance policies, Medicare fraud, and phone and email scams. Attendees will learn red flags to watch for before signing documents or making payments, as well as how to verify that an insurance agent or broker is properly licensed.
Sayavong will also explain what to do if you suspect fraud and how to report it. Caregivers, family members, and anyone who works with older adults are encouraged to attend.
