Palenke Arts and Monterey Peninsula College proudly present Dia de los Muertos: a FREE community event honoring those who have passed before us. This year, our celebration will be on Saturday, November 1st, starting at 6PM, at the Oldemeyer Center located at 986 Hilby Ave, Seaside, CA 93955.

Our esteemed Master of Ceremonies will be the award-winning Mexican American author, Claudia Meléndez. The event will feature an ofrenda (community altar), performances by our Palenke Arts Bilingual Chorus, Danza Mexika, Ballet Folklorico, and live music by Herencia del Real, as well as vendors. The event will also showcase Eternidad, a film directed by Iggy Figueroa featuring the story of a couple trying to reconnect in their afterlife.

This year Palenke Arts is honoring Carmen Mexicano, former Palenke Arts Board Member. Carmen was a remarkable artist, parent, teacher and community activist from Oaxaca that resided in Seaside and personified everything that is special about Palenke Arts.

Participants are encouraged to bring framed pictures to add to our community ofrenda or send pictures to info@palenkearts.org.
