Palenke Arts and Seaside High School present the 3rd Annual Moonflower Festival on Saturday, April 18th

The 3rd Annual Moonflower Festival will take place at Seaside High School on Saturday, April 18th from 11:00am to 2:00pm. This Free Event is a Celebration of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Culture, Music and Dance.

Highlights include a wonderful gathering of over One-hundred Asian American and Pacific Islander Performers including the following:
Shinsho Mugen Daiko (Japanese Taiko Drums)
Na Haumana (Polynesian Drum and Dance)
VietSteps (Vietnamese Dance)
The Seaside High School Pacific Islander Club Dancers

There will also be Artisans and Community Booths, Art Activities and Food Vendors.

Shinsho Mugen Daiko: The Founding Director, Ikuyo Conant, emphasizes cultivation of energy, self-awareness and social and personal harmony in Taiko drumming. The group introduces a contemporary style of Taiko drumming with movements and powerful sounds at community, cultural and school events in Monterey County and beyond.

Nā Haumāna: Nā Haumāna brings the Pacific Islands to life, through music and dance, while perpetuating the values of lifelong Learning, community, Ohana and the foundation of Aloha.

VietSteps: San Jose-based Vietnamese American youth dance group aiming to preserve and reconnect our youth with the Vietnamese language, music, and culture. We are often invited to perform at community events throughout the Bay Area and our dancers have competed and won in various dance competitions and talent shows. Classes are set at elementary and intermediate levels and we welcome anyone with an interest in learning Vietnamese cultural dancing.

PALENKE ARTS:
Palenke Arts is a Multicultural Arts Organization whose Mission is to educate, inspire and transform the Community of Seaside through the Arts. The organization was founded in 2015 by a committed group of artists, educators and community members who recognized the urgent need for multicultural arts and music programs and events in the city of Seaside, especially for the youth, and envisioned the creation of a vibrant, safe and inclusive home for the arts in our town that would benefit all of Monterey County.
