Summer Solstice Blessing of the Waters
Summer Solstice Blessing of the Waters
Sunday, June 21st, 2026 is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. For many years now, at both summer and winter solstices, Khenpo Karten Rinpoche, local Tibetan Buddhist monk, offers a Blessing of the Waters by reciting two prayers that he composed, Propitiating the Devas of the Four Elements and the Prayer for World Peace. This year, we will meet again in person at Lover’s Point Beach. We will gather in community and send our good energy to the ocean, to all the waters of the world, and to all of nature and humanity. Attendees are asked to bring flower petals/flowers for the offering.
Please note that Rinpoche plans to move to Portland next summer, so this may be the last summer solstice he will perform as a Pacific Grove resident.
