Slower Ships, Safer Seas: Making Monterey Bay a Sanctuary for Whales
Wednesday, May 14, 2:30pm, Diment Hall, Free, Open to the Public
Join Dr. John Ryan, Biological Oceanographer, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute on this one of kind presentation. In 2023 Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) joined a voluntary Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) program, Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies. In this presentation you will learn how whale habitat within the Monterey Bay’s Sanctuary has since become quieter and safer because gigantic ships are moving slower. Come have a “whale of a time” with us at the Foundation.
