“The Return of Illustrating Nature” Science Exhibit now through June 12th at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History

“The Return of Illustrating Nature” Science Exhibit now through June 12th at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History

Today until Sunday, June 12th, Museum guests will be able to view Capstone Works of Science Illustration from the graduating class of 2022 in the Main Gallery as well as purchase original works, prints, and merchandise from the Artists and at the Museum Store.

Nate King, the Museum’s Collections and Research Manager is excited to curate the show. “We are happy to welcome CSUMB’s Science Illustration program back to the Museum after two years away. “Illustrating Nature” has been one of our most successful exhibits and community partnerships since its debut in 2010 and we are thrilled to present the students’ amazing work. We hope the public will take an opportunity to visit this exhibit.”

This year is particularly exciting after two years of digital shows, says Andrea Dingeldein, Lecturer and Program Lead. “This year’s cohort of students have dedicated countless hours to honing their skills as science illustrators -- We couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments at the opening of Illustrating Nature. During their time in the program, they have the opportunity to experiment with new materials, explore and learn from the natural world, and build a community of support as they begin their journey as professional illustrators. Each student’s unique skills, style, media of choice, and interests are reflected in the work on display, so come out and take a look - you might even learn something new about science and nature.”

We hope you will join us at the Museum in admiring these beautiful pieces that celebrate the wonders of our natural world.

About the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History

In 1883, the Museum opened its doors among the first wave of natural history museums in America. Naturalists of this era began a national tradition of hands-on science education and nature preservation. The museum has continued this tradition for over 135 years.

The Museum’s mission is to inspire discovery, wonder, and stewardship of our natural world. It envisions a community of curious minds, engaged in discovering the natural heritage and cultural legacy that exist today on the Central California Coast. The museum is a catalyst for conservation and a valued learning resource in this region, facilitating active inquiry for all ages.
