Learn to dance, make new friends, experience the beauty of the coastal redwood forest in Santa Cruz! Stockton Folk Dance Camp has been a world-famous international folk dance camp for the past 78 years.
New this year, the Sunday night parties will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, and FREE. These will take place in the evening on July 19th and July 26th. Attendees will pay a small fee for parking. For Sunday party times and location, see our website.
2026, the camp’s 79th year, will see the action move to the University of California at Santa Cruz Lewis 9 college. This residence camp features teachers gathered from all corners of the globe. During either of two identical one week sessions, you’ll learn about dances, music and culture from around the world. You may also choose to attend both weeks, enabling a more relaxed learning pace. The jam-packed days are filled with dance classes, music classes, and cultural exploration. The evening dance parties go until the last dancers are done. There are many special camp traditions, and optional closing banquets at the end of each week. Our camp band, the Boston Quartet, are skilled and versatile. Many dancers bring musical instruments to camp to practice in music classes and impromptu jam sessions. This year the staff will teach English country, Romanian-inspired, Roma, European, Scandinavian, and Armenian dances, plus Contras, Squares and Mixers. Even if you have never danced before, you will learn MANY dances during a week at this camp. If you are a dancer, you will expand your knowledge and skills through world dance traditions. You do not need to come to camp with a partner! You will learn both partner and non-partner dances. During the partner dance classes, participants may learn with many different partners. This camp fosters new friendships.
