The Santa Cruz – Live Oak Glass Pumpkin Patch is celebrating its 10th year in the beautiful heirloom garden of the Live Oak Grange. Come check out the amazing array of glass pumpkins, gourds, and squash blossoms - in every color and every size. We'll even have glass Banana Slugs! Everything is hand-blown in the Davenport studio of Chris Johnson Glass, and a portion of proceeds are donated to the Live Oak Grange to support the work they do to support food security and sustainable agriculture in our community.

This is an all-ages, family-friendly, dog-friendly, and inclusive event, open to all art lovers and pumpkin enthusiasts. Plenty of free parking.

No purchase required – all are welcome to come enjoy the awesome pumpkins (no two are alike!) and the charming beauty of the Grange Gardens.

When: Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday Sept. 27, 10am – 4pm

Out back behind the green Grange Hall, in the Heirloom Garden.

Join the Carmel Orchid Society at its monthly meetings to learn how to grow orchids in our local environment. Meetings are held from 2:00pm to 4:00m on the First Saturday of the Month (except during Months with Social Events) at the Community Church of Carmel Valley. Monthly meetings feature Informative Speakers and an Opportunity to win Orchids, Food and Fun.

The Society also has a Picnic, Excursion and Holiday Dinner as well as sponsoring an Orchid Market in the Fall.

Seaside Mayoral and City Council Candidate Forum

Seaside voters will have an opportunity to hear directly from candidates for mayor and city council at a public candidate forum on Tuesday, September 29, ahead of the November 3, 2026, general election.

The League of Women Voters of Monterey County, in partnership with Sustainable Seaside, will host the forum at the Oldemeyer Center’s Laguna Grande Hall, 986 Hilby Avenue, Seaside. All candidates seeking the mayoral office and two city council seats have been invited to participate.

Doors open at 6 p.m., when audience members may submit questions for the candidates. The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes by 8:30 p.m.

Real-time Spanish-language interpretation will be provided. Se ofrecerá interpretación al español en tiempo real.

The forum is free and open to the public. Although it will not be livestreamed, a recording will be available afterward on the League of Women Voters of Monterey County website my.lwv.org/california/monterey-county.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering people to participate fully in democracy. It does not endorse candidates or support political parties.
