TRUTH Act in Monterey County, San Lorenzo Water seeks input on hazard mitigation plan

In today's newscast, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office released nearly a dozen incarcerated people to federal immigration officials in 2024. They'll present more details during a board of supervisors' hearing on the Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds—or TRUTH—Act.

And, the San Lorenzo Water District is looking for public comment on its draft plan for local hazard mitigation. The agency, which serves communities in the Santa Cruz Mountains, aims to identify natural and human-caused hazards in the area—and what can be done to reduce the risks they pose.
