Santa Cruz joins effort to ban filtered tobacco products, state budget cuts affect popular library program

The Santa Cruz city council is moving toward joining the effort to ban plastic filters on tobacco products like cigarettes.

In today's newscast, the Santa Cruz City Council has approved a ban on the sale of filtered tobacco products. And, state legislators have proposed a budget that would cut the Library State Parks Pass program. It lets patrons borrow a day parking pass for state parks—and, at some locations, a kit with gear like binoculars and wildlife guides.
