UPDATED 11:08 A.M.
A tsunami advisory has been cancelled for the Central Coast.
The National Tsunami Warning Center lifted the Tsunami Advisory for the Monterey Bay Area just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
"We have not had any reports of damage as of this time," said Cynthia Palmer, meteorologist in charge for the National Weather Service office in Monterey.
Ocean currents and conditions may still be dynamic and dangerous, and local officials urge caution around the ocean today.
Coastal areas, beaches and waterways are now open.
The tsunami follows an 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the Russian coast Tuesday afternoon. It was one of the strongest in the world since 2011.
