10/30/2019: PG&E decided not to turn off the power in Santa Cruz County on Tuesday following changes in the weather.
10/29/2019 9:45AM: PG&E customers in northern Santa Cruz County and upper San Lorenzo Valley will likely be impacted by another Public Safety Power Shutoff beginning Tuesday night. This shutoff marks the third one affecting the Monterey Bay area in the past three weeks.
About 5,400 customers in Boulder Creek, Castle Rock, Davenport and Bonny Doon may be affected. Santa Cruz County Communications Manager Jason Hoppin says many of these customers have not had their power restored yet. The County says it’s possible PG&E will be able to restore power for people between these two events, even if it’s just for a few hours.
Tuesday’s Public Safety Power Shutoff is expected to rollout around 10 p.m. Tuesday night. PG&E plans to begin the re-energization process Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday for the Santa Cruz Mountains and Scotts Valley.
