
Doug McKnight
Reporter / MembershipDoug joined KAZU in 2004 as Development Director overseeing fundraising, underwriting and grants. He was promoted to General Manager in 2009. In 2011 he retired as General Manager but continued to work part-time in fundraising, news and station projects.
Prior to joining KAZU, Doug worked in television news in Detroit, San Francisco, San Jose, and Monterey and served as General Manager at channel 46 in Monterey.
He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Radio and Television from Michigan State University and an MBA from St. Mary’s College.
Doug was President of the Northern California Radio-Television News Directors Association for two years and served on its board for 10 years. He also served on the board of the California First Amendment Coalition and as a trustee for Monterey College of Law. In 2005, he was inducted into the Silver Circle of the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The honor is given for 25 years of service and a significant contribution to local television.

Cal State Monterey Bay students are on board the boat that carried author John Steinbeck and his friend Ed Ricketts, a biologist, to the Sea of Cortez thanks to the Western Flyer Foundation. It deploys the Western Flyer to blend science and art, stir curiosity, and introduce students to ocean science.

Half of the local measures on the November ballot in Monterey County are for school district bonds. Selling bonds allows the districts to borrow money to repair and expand buildings and add science labs or technology to schools.
