Baroque to Modern: Emi Saeki, Organ and Piano
Music at St. Dunstan’s is pleased to present in recital Emi Saeki, an organist, clavichordist, pianist, accompanist, and composer. She is known for her diverse music repertoire, which ranges from Renaissance to Contemporary, and is a recognized expert on the clavichord.
Ms. Saeki’s program at St. Dunstan’s will range from Baroque works for organ by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Dieterich Buxtehude, and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck to contemporary music by American composer Philip Glass. She also will include her own arrangements of piano compositions by Edvard Grieg (Lyric Pieces) and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (The Nutcracker).
Ms. Saeki has given concerts in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Russia, The Netherlands, and the United States as well as in her native Japan, where she has appeared on radio and television. She received a diploma in pipe organ from the ArtEZ Conservatory University of the Arts in Enschede, Netherlands.
Ms. Saeki now makes her home in Monterey County. She was the music director, resident organist and pianist at Church of The Wayfarer in Carmel from 2022 to early 2025. She is now the resident organist and pianist at the First Presbyterian Church of Monterey.
