CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. — Twisted Roots Winery will host a special local book release and signing event on Friday, May 12, 5:30–7:30 p.m., at its Carmel Valley tasting room. The Salinas native will be in attendance at the Twisted Roots event to greet the public and sign copies of her new book.

Attendees will be treated to a paella feast created by chef Brandon Miller of Paella LLC, a signed copy of Abbott’s book and a complimentary glass of wine. Additional glasses of the winery’s Old Vine Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Albariño, among others, will be available for purchase in the tasting room. The cost is:

Single Admission Ticket: $45 per person includes one autographed book, one glass of wine and paella tasting
Couples Admission Ticket: $75 per person includes one autographed book, two glasses of wine and paella tasting for two.

Abbott played for North Salinas High School, She went on to the University of Tennessee, and after going pro, she competed for Team USA and won a silver medal at both the Beijing Olympics (2008) and the Tokyo Olympic Games (*2021).

Abbott wrote, “Rise and Shine: The Monica Abbott Story” with co-authors Debby and Rob Schriver. ESPN announcer and 2x Olympian Jessica Mendoza wrote the foreword. Rise and Shine is a story of making dreams come true and of lifting others with you as you rise.

Today, Abbott supports female student athletes in Monterey County through the Monica Abbott Scholarship Fund and continues to educate young women in the sport. She is an avid motivational speaker at events across the country.

Twisted Roots Winery’s recently renovated tasting room is a special venue that accommodates up to 40 people for a variety of events from corporate gatherings to intimate get-togethers such as wedding receptions and family celebrations.
