Reception Issues in Santa Cruz County

We’re aware that listeners are experiencing interference with KAZU’s signal in parts of Santa Cruz County, including Scotts Valley, Felton, and Boulder Creek. We’re sorry that you haven’t been able to reliably hear the programming you count on. We understand how frustrating this is, and we’re grateful to everyone who has contacted us.

We’re consulting with two experienced radio frequency engineers to investigate potential causes and identify options for improving reception. This work includes reviewing interference from other signals, our antenna system, and transmitter location.

As the next step, we’re arranging for one of these specialists to visit on October 28th, for an on-site inspection and reception study in the affected areas.

We know you’re looking for answers, and we’re sorry we don’t yet have a confirmed solution or timeline for improvements. Addressing these reception issues is a priority, and we’ll share updates here as the investigation progresses and recommendations become available.
