Emerging Composers Lab at Hidden Valley
Emerging Composers Lab at Hidden Valley
Ten emerging composers and six outstanding performers explore how to align new musical works with original creative visions.
After hearing their works rehearsed for the first time, young composers will gather with performing faculty members to ask questions, experiment, exchange thoughts and play with ideas to develop their pieces for successful world premiere performances on July 7th and 8th.
Designed for dedicated composers aged 18-31, The Emerging Composers Intensive (ECI) at Hidden Valley is an important extension to the conservatory education that aims to complete a young composer's skill set on the path to a professional career. ECI focuses on the crucial connection between individual creativity and effective collaboration by having composers work closely with renowned composition and performing faculty throughout their writing process to strengthen the necessary foundations of instrumental understanding, notation, and communication skills.
This unique and prestigious program includes ten public events in Carmel Valley, including a July 5th talk by Fred Child, host of NPR's Peabody-award winning classical music program Performance Today, culminating in ten world premieres in not-to-be-missed concerts on July 7th and 8th.
