Emerging Composers Lab led by Wang Jie

Emerging Composers Lab led by Wang Jie
Award-winning composer Wang Jie leads a hands-on music mentoring session with participants of the Emerging Composers Intensive.
Jie is a uniquely versatile composer, and this class will introduce attendees to her creative musical insights as she demonstrates solutions and proposes edits to assist emerging composers in improving their pieces’ performance and delivery.
Designed for dedicated composers aged 18-31, The Emerging Composers Intensive (ECI) at Hidden Valley is an important extension to the conservatory education that aims to complete a young composer's skill set on the path to a professional career. ECI focuses on the crucial connection between individual creativity and effective collaboration by having composers work closely with renowned composition and performing faculty throughout their writing process to strengthen the necessary foundations of instrumental understanding, notation, and communication skills.
This prestigious program includes ten public events in Carmel Valley, including a July 5th talk by Fred Child, host of NPR's Peabody-award winning classical music program Performance Today, and ten world premieres in two not-to-be-missed concerts on July 7th and 8th.
