Yesterday’s masterful music played by tomorrow’s brightest stars!

Please join us to hear three chamber music gems performed by the 2023 Festival of Winds fellows, 18 students selected from America’s most prestigious music institutions.

Each summer, the Festival of Winds fellows are in residence on the campus of Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley, where they rehearse with, and learn from, wind instrumentalists from the major orchestras, including:

Seth Morris (Principal Flute, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra)
Liam Boisset (Professor of Oboe, Princeton University)
Anton Rist (Principal Clarinet, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra)
Harrison Miller (Principal Bassoon, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra)
Rebekah Daley (Principal Horn, North Carolina Symphony)

This program, the third of four Festival concerts, features:

Sextet for Piano and Winds in B-flat Major, Op. 6 (1888) ~ Ludwig Thuille
Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 103 (1792) ~ Ludwig van Beethoven
Divertissement, Op. 36 (1888) ~ Emile Bernard

The Festival of Winds was launched in 2021 to augment summer educational opportunities for gifted young wind players. A collaboration between Elaine Douvas (Principal Oboe, The Metropolitan Opera) and Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley, this year's Festival brings 18 brilliant students and five master teachers together for 11 days of artistic exploration and four breathtaking public performances.

The Festival's concerts, on July 11th, 14th, 17th and 21st at 7:30pm in Hidden Valley's intimate theater, will present some of the most beautiful and interesting works composed for wind instruments.
