Free Film Screening: Earth's Greatest Enemy
Free Film Screening: Earth's Greatest Enemy
Veterans For Peace Chapter 46 will host a free public screening of the powerful documentary Earth’s Greatest Enemy on Saturday, April 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Marina Branch Library Community Room. Justin Loza, Chapter 46 President, will lead a discussion after the film.
Held in recognition of Earth Day, this timely event highlights a largely overlooked driver of global climate change: the U.S. military.
Directed by Abby Martin and Mike Prysner, Earth’s Greatest Enemy investigates the environmental footprint of the Pentagon, which is widely considered the world’s largest institutional polluter. The film reveals how military operations contribute significantly to carbon emissions, water contamination, and ecological destruction worldwide, often operating outside the scope of international climate agreements and public scrutiny.
Through compelling investigative journalism, striking visuals, and firsthand accounts from impacted communities, the documentary challenges audiences to reconsider the true cost of global militarization and its connection to the climate crisis.
Earth’s Greatest Enemy exposes a critical blind spot in the climate conversation. As new offshore drilling and seabed mining proposals emerge along California’s coast, this film helps connect the dots between militarism, fossil fuel expansion, and environmental degradation.
The screening is free and open to the public. Community members, students, and environmental advocates are encouraged to attend.
