Help Hope Blossom: An Amaryllis Sale to support The Huntington’s Disease Society Of America, a Registered 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization

The San Francisco Affiliate of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) has begun their annual sale of beautiful Amaryllis bulbs, which make for great gifts -- just in time for the holidays. Kits are on sale now until early December at HDSA.org/Amaryllis.

The Amaryllis commonly symbolizes strength and determination. The Huntington’s disease community has adopted this flower to represent hope and celebrate continued advancements in HD research. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington’s disease (HD) and their families. Amaryllis bulbs are among the easiest bulbs to grow indoors and the most rewarding. These premium Dutch bulbs need minimal attention but you will be rewarded with spectacular blooms to brighten up the dark winter days.

Each amaryllis kit will contain everything you need to have your own spectacular amaryllis this winter including:

One 26/28 cm Amaryllis Bulb

Decorative PotProfessional Growing Medium

Planting Care and Aftercare Instructions

Each kit costs only $10.00 (plus shipping & handling). Cases are available for sale for a discount. Go to HDSA.org/Amaryllis and pick out your bulbs today while supplies last. When you select your purchase, please also select “San Francisco Affiliate” as your fundraising “Location.” Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the list, we’re listed after Wisconsin.

Supplies are limited, and this offer ends in early December so get your order in today! For more information about this fundraising event, please contact Therese Crutcher-Marin (theresecrutchermarin@gmail.com Phone: 530-906-8415).

**********************************************************

Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure. Every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene. Today, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease. The symptoms of HD are described as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously.

The Huntington’s Disease Society Of America is a registered 501.c.3 nonprofit organization, and the premier nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by HD.

From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world’s leader in providing help for today and hope for tomorrow for people with HD and their families. HDSA was founded in 1967 by Marjorie Guthrie, the wife of legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie. Woody died from HD complications when he was only 55 years old, but the Guthrie family legacy lives on at HDSA to this day.
