Are you looking to help protect federally threatened Steelhead Trout, but don't know how to? Want to learn about old-growth redwoods, Steelhead Trout, and other species that live in our local watersheds?

Come help remove invasive French Broom (Genista monspessulana) alongside Potrero Creek in the Potrero Canyon area of the Santa Lucia Preserve. We will also have an environmental educator at this event to talk about the Carmel River watershed, threatened Steelhead Trout in Potrero Creek, Rumsen-Ohlone people in Carmel Valley, and more. This is also a great opportunity to learn about the work WSP members do throughout California.

Where: This volunteer event will be located at the Potrero Canyon area inside the Santa Lucia Preserve at 1 Rancho San Carlos Road, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93923. Event space is very limited. Please RSVP to secure your spot. We will caravan from the gate entrance into Potrero Canyon at the start of the event.

When: Saturday, April 6th, 9:30AM-2PM. Please arrive at 9:30 so that we may begin shuttling vehicles to the Potrero Canyon area inside the preserve. It is about a 10-minute drive to Potrero Canyon from the entrance. The event will begin shortly after 10AM at the Potrero Canyon area. Access and entry to the event will only be available at the start of the event so please be sure to arrive on time.

What to Bring: Close-toed shoes, long sleeves, sun & rain protection, water, and additional snacks.

We will be providing all tools and gloves. We will have plenty of coffee, bagels, fruit, and other food to get you through the event!
