Monterey Symphony Launches 26/27 Season with Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Violinist Alexi Kenney

The Monterey Symphony begins its 26/27 season on Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. A second performance takes place on Sunday, October 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea. These concerts bring together the music of several acclaimed composers and compelling violinist, Alexi Kenney.

“We begin our subscription season by featuring one of the most exciting young soloists I’ve encountered in my career, violinist Alexi Kenney,” says Music Director Jayce Ogren. “His virtuosity and soulfulness are sure to shine in Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1. We’re also proud to present Aaron Copland’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, Appalachian Spring, and Samuel Barber’s dramatic Second Essay, among other selections. It will be an evening of wonderful tunes, wide ranging colors, and all the delights you have come to expect from the Monterey Symphony,” concludes Ogren.
