Travel back in time on a “Sentimental Journey” tracing the history of the Nisei (second generation Japanese Americans), through songs from before, during and after WWII. The program will include popular Japanese and American songs that were significant to the Nisei in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. The Nisei experience was a blending of Japanese and American cultures that defines the Japanese American experience for past, present and future generations.
Performed by the Los Angeles based Grateful Crane Ensemble and sponsored by The Henri and Tomoye Takahashi Charitable Foundation, the Watsonville Buddhist Temple is proud to partner with the Grateful Crane Ensemble to pay tribute to the Nisei generation.
