Cabrillo College is proud to host the memorial installation Hostile Terrain 94 at the Watsonville Center in the Spring of 2025. Hostile Terrain 94 is a participatory exhibition created by the Undocumented Migration Project, a non-profit organization that focuses on the social process of immigration and raises awareness through research, education, and outreach.

The exhibit is composed of approximately 3,800 handwritten toe tags that represent migrants who have died trying to cross the Sonoran Desert from the mid-1990s to 2023. These tags are geolocated on a large wall map of the Arizona-Mexico border, showing the exact locations where human remains were found.

With hearts as big as their bagpipes, The Red Hot Chili Pipers have also received a 'Big Hearted Scotland' nomination for their global charity work.

As part of this Art of Nature exhibit special, join an esteemed artist as you learn the science and art behind the most adorable sea slug around!Featuring beautiful scientific illustration displays from the exhibit, this program is perfect for aspiring artists and marine biologists alike.Taught by a professional illustrator and exhibitor, this workshop will begin with a scientific presentation on nudibranch sea slugs before transitioning to the painting portion. Using the artist’s exhibit materials as references, participants will use acrylic paint and decorate their own 3D-printed nudibranch for a one-of-a-kind marine mollusk masterpiece.No prior experience required. Participants will have a completed art piece to take home at the conclusion of the workshop. Open to ages 16+/all experience levels. All supplies included.FYI: This class takes place indoors. Supplies may get messy, so casual attire is recommended.

Tour Working Studios, See, and Collect Art!
The Artists-in-Residence with the Cubberley Artist Studio Program open their studios to the public twice per year, in the spring and fall. These Open Studios events are free to the public and take place at Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Artist studios are in the E, F, and U wings at the north end of the Center.

The Cubberley Artist Studio program is a unique, competitive program with established artists offering free, family-friendly programming to the local community. It provides rent-subsidized studio space and creative community for artists in exchange for community service. Twenty-two artists are currently in a long-term residency with the City of Palo Alto through the Cubberley Artist Studio Program. They work in a rich diversity of media including installation, mixed media, painting, printmaking, interdisciplinary art, photography, sculpture, film, textile, woodworking and performance.
