Eight celebrated musicians ignite the stage where tango-fueled fire meets soaring Romantic imagination. Two masterpieces. Eight voices. One unforgettable night. Carmel Music Stage 2 @ SandBox presents celebrated chamber musicians Chad Hoopes, Amy Schwartz Moretti, Owen Dalby, Livia Sohn, Katie Kadarauch, Maiya Papach, Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir, and Michelle Djokic.

This evenings' program brings together two electrifying masterworks that redefine the power of chamber music. Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round pulses with tango-inspired intensity, weaving raw emotion, rhythmic drive, and moments of haunting stillness into a gripping contemporary lament. Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet in E flat Major, composed when the composer was just sixteen, follows as a dazzling celebration of youthful genius—brimming with lyrical beauty, precision, and exuberant energy. Together, these works offer a striking contrast of passion and brilliance, uniting tradition and innovation in an unforgettable evening of chamber music.

SF Scottish Fiddlers Stravaig Spring Concerts. Music Director Caroline McCaskey promises a musical journey like no other! More than 90 musicians on fiddles, cellos, piano, drums, and guitars deliver a spirited performance—ranging from high-energy dance tunes to soulful, romantic melodies. Palenke Arts invites community members, partners, artists, and supporters to join a special evening recognizing ten years of cultural leadership, artistic expression, and community connection in Seaside.

In partnership with the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, this milestone ribbon cutting honors a decade of work dedicated to creating access to arts education, preserving cultural traditions, and building spaces where diverse voices and creative expression can thrive.

Founded by Executive Director Juan L. Sánchez, Palenke Arts has grown into a regional hub for Latin American, Afro-Caribbean, and global cultural arts programming. Over the past ten years, the organization has presented performances, youth programs, workshops, and community events that bring generations together through music and the arts.

Guests will also learn more about the upcoming Palenke Arts 10-Year Anniversary Festival taking place June 7 at Laguna Grande Park, a free multicultural celebration welcoming the entire community.

All are welcome to attend and be part of this meaningful moment in Palenke Arts’ history.

The Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony, under the direction of Daniel Goldsmith, performs music by Mozart, Beethoven, Fauré, Jacob Stone, and others. Concerto Competition winner Olivia Chen, age 18, performs her winning concerto. Students from the Youth Symphony’s Chamber Strings program open the concert. Bring the whole family!
