California's Supreme Court orders return of redistricting ballots
The ballots held votes about redrawing California's congressional map to favor Democrats. Sheriff Chad Bianco of Riverside County, which sits about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, said he took the ballots from the county registrar to investigate alleged voter fraud.
State and county election officials said there was no evidence of fraud. California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta told Bianco to pause the investigation.
In its rulings, the court says Bianco bypassed election law by taking the ballots and defied Bonta’s authority. Bonta says the rulings help protect election integrity.
"The Riverside County Sheriff is not above the law, and state law must be enforced,” said Bonta. Bianco says he's disappointed by the rulings, but will comply with them

The Transportation Agency for Monterey County continues fielding feedback on the new Active Transportation Plan
Janneke Strause is a senior planner with the agency. She says this month they started phase two of their engagement process which involves asking the community: "Are there areas that the analysis shows are comfortable that are actually not comfortable?"
Strause also said this next phase will include a deeper look into where the agency should focus planned improvements, and which improvements are liked the most and the least.
Over the weekend, transportation agency employees tabled at community events in Marina and Seaside. Seven more outreach events are scheduled, with more in the works, as the agency continues looking for folks to participate in focus groups across 12 cities in Monterey County.
