This week’s high winds caused a large number of power outages in Santa Cruz County.

UPDATE 1/22/21 5:30PM: As of Friday evening, just over 2,400 customers were without power in Santa Cruz County. PG&E said they made good progress in Boulder Creek on Friday.
UPDATE 1/22/21 10:30AM: As of Friday morning, more than 5,400 customers remain without power in Santa Cruz County, mainly in Boulder Creek.
The community resource center in Scotts Valley remains open to support those affected by the outages. PG&E said it should remain open until 9:30 p.m. Friday. It will reopen Saturday. The center is located at Enterprise Technology Center, 100 Enterprise Road.
PG&E still anticipates that 75% of customers who lost power should have it back by the end of Friday. The rest will be restored over the weekend.
UPDATE 1/21/21 4:10PM: As of Thursday afternoon, over 8,600 PG&E customers are still without power in Santa Cruz County. PG&E said they made progress in Aptos, Ben Lomond, Felton, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Watsonville. In other areas of the county, crews are working to repair “extensive damage” to their infrastructure.
1/21/21 12PM: As of Thursday morning, almost 10,000 PG&E customers are without power. The outages are concentrated in the Santa Cruz mountains.
The largest number of customers currently without power are in Boulder Creek; about 3,600 customers there have no electricity.
PG&E says the outages are caused by both the high winds and “access issues” in trying to reach the downed lines. The company has about 65 crews working on the outages with an additional 11 crews expected to be added today. It expects to restore power to 75% of the customers by the end of Friday. The remaining customers should get their power back over the weekend.
PG&E has opened a community resource center at Enterprise Technology Center in Scotts Valley,100 Enterprise Way, for customers affected by the outages.
