StoryCorps is a  national nonprofit organization dedicated to recording, preserving, and sharing the stories of people from all backgrounds and beliefs.  An interview gives you the chance to ask a friend, family member, or colleague about their lives during a 40 minute interview.  At the end of the conversation you will recieve a digital copy of your interview.  With your permission, a second copy will be preserved in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.  StoryCorps last visited the Monterey Bay area in 2010.

The Military Voices Initiative contributes to StoryCorps’ diverse collection by recording and preserving the stories of veterans, service members, and military families. It is an opportunity for them to share their experiences in their own words. It is also an opportunity for civilians to understand more clearly the complex realities of veterans’ service and sacrifice.
