Art Meets Conservation at Pacific Grove Museum's Art on Tap
Art Meets Conservation at Pacific Grove Museum's Art on Tap
The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History has announced another addition to its popular on Tap Series: Art on Tap. The inaugural evening will center stories from local artists about how art influences the world of conservation. "The PG Museum's mission is to inspire discovery, wonder, and stewardship of our natural and cultural worlds," says Maya Sosa, the Museum's Associate Curator of Exhibits. "The bridge that crosses those worlds is often beautiful and insightful artistic work, and we're excited to feature three artists who make a major impact with theirs."
The panel will be composed of three artists: Becca Boring, photographer, curator, and founder of Women at Depth; Erin E. Hunter, fine artist and science illustrator; and scientific illustrator Monica Loncola. Discussions on the panel will include the history of art and conservation, modern techniques and methods to connect outside a virtual sphere with the natural world, and a case study of how these ideas were put into practice aboard the Western Flyer on a trip to the Gulf of California.
Art on Tap will take place on November 12 from 5:30-7:30pm, with a happy half-hour sponsored by Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Signups are suggested as these events sell out. Registration and more information can be found on the Museum's website: www.PGMuseum.org/events
